Program Coordinator/Shoreline Community College

This position works under the general supervision of the Director of Workforce Education Programs. The Program Coordinator is responsible for the development/coordination of the Basic Food Stamp Employment and Training program (BFET). BFET is a federal program providing low-income adults with flexible financial aid and comprehensive support to help them with success in professional technical educational programs and ABE/ESL/GED. This position implements program policies; determines and processes paperwork related to participant eligibility; and is responsible for the completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports that reflect various program activities. This position interacts on multiple levels with internal and external partners such as staff in financial aid, workforce education, co-located community based programs, DSHS, and WorkSource centers.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education & Experience:
• High School Graduate OR equivalent
• Two (2) years of experience in Human Services or a related field; AND
• Washington State driver’s license OR the ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire
Preferred Education & Experience:
• Fluency in more than one (1) language
• Experience working within a community college setting
Knowledge of:
• Employment/training programs such as BFET, Workforce Education or equivalent
• Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Explorer, Outlook and Word
Skill in:
• Contributing to the College’s commitment to foster a climate of multicultural understanding
• Establishing and maintaining collaborative working relationships at all organizational level
• Disseminating complex information to a variety of diverse audiences
• Handling multiple tasks simultaneously with a strong attention to detail
• Working with culturally/economically diverse populations both independently and in a team environment
• Analyzing/applying established procedures and developing/implementing new processes
• Communicating effectively, both orally and in writing, with an emphasis on customer service
PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT
• Ability to work in an office setting, using standard office equipment including a computer, and attend meetings both on campus and other off-site locations.
• Ability to read printed materials and a computer screen.
• Ability to communicate in English in both person and through appropriate means.
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT/SALARY
This position is allocated to pay range 37, under the Washington State Department of Personnel Higher Education Salary Schedule. The starting salary is $2482 with pay increases to $3213 per month. Salary placement for new employees is determined by the College. Shoreline Community College provides a generous benefits package which includes health care coverage and dental insurance for employees and eligible family members/domestic partners, retirement plan, disability insurance, vacation and sick leave and up to eleven paid holidays. This position works 40 hours per week, dependent upon department needs.
