First Ever Board of Trustees Announced

September 23, 2009 by admin

Antioch University Seattle recently announced the appointment of their first board of trustees. Ken Friedman, J.D., a partner with Friedman, Rubin & White and an alumnus of Antioch College, was named chairperson.

Antioch University has historically been governed by a single, central university board, which maintains legal and fiduciary responsibility for the entire university system. In fall 2008, this board authorized a dramatic restructuring of the governance of the university, directing for the first time that each campus establish its own board of trustees. According to a common set of bylaws established and approved by the Antioch University Board of Governors, campus boards of trustees will have significant delegated authority and responsibility for the oversight of their respective campuses.
The Governance and Executive committees of the Antioch University Board of Governors approved all trustee nominations and authorized the AUS Board of Trustees to begin their work.

In addition to the chair, other members include Janet Berglund, president of Essential Consulting; Richard Conlin, president of the Seattle City Council; Anil Coumar, licensed psychotherapist and director of the Mental Health Clinic at the University of Washington’s Hall Health Center; Steve Crandall, founder and managing director of ProMotion Arts; Alejandro Di-Tolla, managing director for Global Business Development Solutions; Charles A. Heinrich, president of Heinrich, Inc.; Paula M. Kinney, director of Park Academy; Anna Liotto, president and CEO for Resultance Inc.; Sean Maloney, director of clinical training at Catholic Community Services of Western Washington; Jim Moore, founding partner of Avogadro Partners; Mauri Moore, chair-elect of an association of community colleges in Washington state; Eddie Pate, principal and founder of Pate Consulting & Associates; Michael E. Sotelo, founder and president of Approach Management Services; and Deborah Wege, community affairs strategy manager and executive director for the Boeing Employees’ Credit Union (BECU) Foundation.
