Functions

• Collaborates with Highline Head Start Program Director and other PSESD Head Start staff for the purpose of ensuring that site is integrated into overall Highline and other PSESD programs while maintaining program standards and quality.
• Collects parent fees as required for child care services for the purpose of securing reimbursement of costs in accordance with administrative policies and/or ensuring the accuracy and timely completion of transactions.
• Conforms to the PSESD’s Principles That Guide Our Culture for the purpose of 1) building trust, collaboration, and strong teams within the program and the Agency and 2) providing exemplary service to external clients.
• Maintains manual and electronic documents, files and records for the purpose of ensuring availability of required information and/or documentation.
• Monitors assigned program components and/or services (e.g. budgets, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring stated outcomes are achieved, relevant policies and procedures are addressed, and services are efficiently provided within budgetary guidelines.
• Oversees efforts of center staff on all logistics (e.g. recruiting, enrollment, daily classroom operation, transportation, mental health and special education referrals, parent activities, food service, substitutes, facilities, supplies, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring services are delivered in conformance with overall objectives.
• Participates in a variety of meetings as required for the purpose of conveying and gathering information.
• Performs personnel administrative functions (e.g. recruiting, hiring, counseling, training, supervising, evaluating, providing professional development opportunities, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining necessary staffing, enhancing productivity of staff, and ensuring outcomes are achieved.
• Prepares written materials (e.g. plans, budgets, funding requests, reports, analyses, recommendations, procedures, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, meeting compliance requirements, making presentations, and/or providing supporting materials for requested actions.
• Presents information on topics related to administrative responsibilities (e.g. financial information, overviews of programs/services, policies and procedures, etc.) for the purpose of providing general information, training others, implementing actions, etc.
• Provides team building activities with all site staff and other Highline Head Start Learning Center staff for the purpose of achieving a high level of services and a strong team.
• Responds to inquiries of staff, district personnel, etc. for the purpose of providing information as may be required.
• Schedules and facilitates interdisciplinary staffing for the purpose of ensuring compliance with program requirements.
• Works with program staff, children and families for the purpose of ensuring the smooth transition of children into and out of the program.
• Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

SKILLS are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Working Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 50% sitting, 25% walking, and 25% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.

Overview:  School’s Out Washington (SOWA) is a statewide organization, (hosted by the YWCA of Seattle, King, Snohomish) serving the field of afterschool throughout Washington State.  School’s Out Washington is dedicated to building community systems to support quality afterschool programs for Washington’s 5-18 year olds through training, advocacy and leadership.

Position Summary:  School’s Out Washington is seeking a highly organized and energetic person to strengthen our team.  The Refugee School Impact Grant Project Manager leads strategic planning, data analysis and evaluation development efforts for the Refugee School Impact Grant project.  This is an opportunity to support funding, training, and resource systems that provide services to professionals working with refugee children and youth across the state of Washington and beyond.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Develop qualitative evaluation tool for current grantees;

Program Coordinator/Shoreline Community College

This position works under the general supervision of the Director of Workforce Education Programs. The Program Coordinator is responsible for the development/coordination of the Basic Food Stamp Employment and Training program (BFET). BFET is a federal program providing low-income adults with flexible financial aid and comprehensive support to help them with success in professional technical educational programs and  ABE/ESL/GED. This position implements program policies; determines and processes paperwork related to participant eligibility; and is responsible for the completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports that reflect various program activities. This position interacts on multiple levels with internal and external partners such as staff in financial aid, workforce education, co-located community based programs, DSHS, and WorkSource centers.

QUALIFICATIONS

POSITION SUMMARY
This position is assigned to the Minority Language Education Project #PE-3008 which is currently funded through 12/31/2012.

The mission of the Elections Division is to maximize citizen access to comprehensive, timely, and accurate election related information, to support the conduct of elections at the county level, and to establish uniform standards in the critical areas of election administration.  It is the policy of the state of Washington to encourage every eligible person to register to vote, to participate fully in all elections, and to protect the integrity of the electoral process by providing equal access to the process.  Federal law requires election materials and information for the public to be available in covered languages.

Within the Voter Education and Outreach Program, the Minority Language Education Coordinator is responsible for managing minority language issues for the Elections Division.  The Minority Language Education Coordinator will serve as the Spanish-to-English and English-to-Spanish interpreter for the Elections Division.  The coordinator will manage the division’s translation process for all languages, and perform translation of the division’s registration and voting materials/information including, but not limited to, the state Voters’ Pamphlet, MyVote, MyBallot, and all other online materials for the division (state WEI content).  The coordinator will ensure effective display of translated materials on the division’s website.  The coordinator will work with the counties to standardize minority language translations and voter education practices to the extent possible, and develop and implement strategies to comply with the Section 203 requirement following the 2010 Census, and subsequent minority language determinations following each release of the American Community Survey.  The coordinator will assist OSOS communications staff with translating or securing translation services, for all voter education related communications issued/released by the agency.

The coordinator will develop and implement voter education programs to minority language communities with an emphasis on the state’s Hispanic communities.  The coordinator will form partnerships in the ethnic/cultural communities throughout the state that will foster and promote voting and civic participation.  The coordinator will assist the counties with networking and relationship building within the minority language communities, foster and promote voting and civic participation.  The coordinator also will research, gather, and analyze demographics pertaining to voter registration and voting behaviors of the state’s Hispanic community. 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Ability to read, write and converse fluently in Spanish and English.
2. Four years of full-time (40 hours per week) experience working with the Spanish community, producing English to Spanish translations, acting as a Spanish interpreter, or related experience; A Bachelor’s degree involving major studies in language arts (Spanish), public relations, communications, or related field may be substituted for up to two years of experience.
3. One year of full-time (40 hours per week) experience using standard office software products such as Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) to: compose, send and respond to electronic mail, create calendar appointments and send meeting requests; create and edit documents, tables and graphs; create complex spreadsheets; and import data from other sources
4. Experience conducting research in order to produce a summary report which includes results, lessons learned and suggestions
5. Ability to handle highly stressful or adverse situations, solve problems, make good decisions, work calmly and accurately, help to calm others and resolve conflicts
6. Required experience may be gained concurrently.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

The Washington State School Directors’ Association (commonly known as WSSDA) is seeking an accomplished, dynamic leader to serve as its next Executive Director.  Headquartered in Olympia, WSSDA is the largest association of elected officials in Washington, and represents every school board member in all of the state’s 295 public school districts.  The new Executive Director will have the exciting opportunity to lead the organization in expanding its role in education policy development and advocacy, as well as its ongoing role of providing leadership development and support to local school boards throughout Washington. 

Overview of the Organization
Locally elected school boards are at the heart of the public education system in Washington State.  School boards serve as a vital link between the community and the classroom — making policy, setting budgets, and exerting leadership to prepare our children for the opportunities of the future.  Founded in 1922 as a state agency, WSSDA is authorized by the State Legislature to be self-governed through a president and board of directors elected from the state’s local school boards.

WSSDA’s core mission is focused on promoting student learning by ensuring that school board members have the knowledge, tools, and services they need to effectively govern their districts and to champion public education.   

WSSDA’s primary services to its members include: Board Training & Professional Development, Policy & Legal Services, Strategic Planning, Information Resources & Issue Briefings, Advocacy, and Conferences and Regional Meetings

The Association currently has an operating budget of 2.9 million dollars and 17 full-time, and two part-time, staff.

The Position

Responsibilities:
The Executive Director reports to the President of the 17-member Board of Directors.  Board members are elected for three year terms by the membership, while the officers are elected for one year terms.  The Executive Director leads the Association toward its mission; is responsible for the effective conduct and management of Association affairs; recommends and participates in the Board’s development of Association goals, objectives and policies; organizes, coordinates, and directs staff and activities for the Association; and acts as its primary spokesperson. 

Compensation & Benefits: The salary for the position is competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.  WSSDA is covered under the State of Washington employee benefit package.

Leadership Philosophy Required: The Executive Director must provide visionary leadership, inspire staff and Board members to do their best work, create, as well as identify, strategic opportunities for the Association, and serve as the “face of the organization” to its many stakeholders.  The Executive Director has wide latitude in exercising independent initiative and judgment, subject to the policies and procedures established by the Board of Directors.

The new Executive Director must be free of any affiliations that could conflict (or could create the appearance of conflict) with the exercise of his/her responsibilities.

Candidate Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience in a related field is required; a Master’s degree or equivalent experience is preferred

The position requires demonstrated skill, experience, and success in/with the following areas: 
 
·      As an Executive Director or senior manager in a similar or larger organization, (in a nonprofit organization preferred, but not necessarily a membership association)

·      Working with elected & appointed government officials at all levels

·      An understanding of the Washington State political and educational “landscape”

·      Developing & maintaining a positive organizational culture

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Associate Director works with current international students interested in transferring to another college, focusing on those who want to transfer to a university upon completion of their Associate Degree. Responsibilities will include:
• Collecting information about TOEFL and other requirements for the universities our students are interested in attending.
• Becoming familiar with rankings of universities and which specialize in majors that our students are interested in.
• Responsibility for all communication with transfer schools and completion of transfer paperwork and SEVIS procedure.
• Tracking university transfers and providing the college with needed information on retention: how long students stay, how many complete their degree, and where they go.
• Responsibility for the coordination and implementation of two regional University Transfer Fairs.
• Communicating with universities about direct transfer agreements and working on all phases from initial contact to completion of the agreement.
• Leading quarterly student information sessions about the transfer process.
• Meeting with students wanting to transfer credits from another university and assisting them with the process.
• Communicating with agents and potential students about what is needed to transfer foreign credits.
• Connecting with international admissions staff of local universities to communicate application deadlines and requirements.
• Creating and maintaining up-to-date information in a campus accessible transfer center.
• Coordinating individual university visits to Edmonds Community College.
This is an exempt position reporting to the Director of International Student Services.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline.
• Two years of experience advising students in a college student services office.
• Professional experience working with F-1 visa regulations in a college student services office.
• Ability to work effectively with culturally and ethnically diverse populations.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience with student records reporting into SEVIS (Student & Exchange Visitor Information System).
• Working knowledge of international student transfer process and requirements.
• Experience leading workshops and information sessions, particularly for international transfer students.
• Experience using a computer and Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, the Internet and email.

PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is typically performed in an office setting with occasional required functions off campus relating to new student orientation or program promotion. Excellent communication and problem solving skills are essential, as well as the ability to multi-task. The ability to use a personal computer is required.

Edmonds Community College, founded in 1967, is a public, two-year, coeducational state community college which each year welcomes some 11,000 academic and vocational students, including approximately 1,000 international students who come here from as many as 55 different countries.

COMPENSATION:
The salary will be based on the current administrative/exempt salary schedule, with placement based on education and related experience. The starting salary range is $42,600 to $46,111 annually, progressing to $50,910. Part Time Basic Skills Development Teacher Needed

Hi Eric,

We are looking for a Part Time Basic Skills Development Teacher here at Shoreline Community College. The person hired will be responsible for Education Action Plans, Teaching Math, Science, Reading, Social Studies, and Writing at a GED level (up to 12th grade level). Must have Bachelor’s Degree. Although this position is for up to 5hrs a day it has full time benefits, retirement. Salary is DOE but base is 25$/hr.
 
Teacher will be reporting to the Education Coordinator. Looking for a creative, driven, and active individual ready to assist our students. We are a program that is open to assist high school drop outs re-engage with the education process and then move them onto college.
