ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR, INTERNATIONAL STUDENT SERVICES

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Associate Director works with current international students interested in transferring to another college, focusing on those who want to transfer to a university upon completion of their Associate Degree. Responsibilities will include:
• Collecting information about TOEFL and other requirements for the universities our students are interested in attending.
• Becoming familiar with rankings of universities and which specialize in majors that our students are interested in.
• Responsibility for all communication with transfer schools and completion of transfer paperwork and SEVIS procedure.
• Tracking university transfers and providing the college with needed information on retention: how long students stay, how many complete their degree, and where they go.
• Responsibility for the coordination and implementation of two regional University Transfer Fairs.
• Communicating with universities about direct transfer agreements and working on all phases from initial contact to completion of the agreement.
• Leading quarterly student information sessions about the transfer process.
• Meeting with students wanting to transfer credits from another university and assisting them with the process.
• Communicating with agents and potential students about what is needed to transfer foreign credits.
• Connecting with international admissions staff of local universities to communicate application deadlines and requirements.
• Creating and maintaining up-to-date information in a campus accessible transfer center.
• Coordinating individual university visits to Edmonds Community College.
This is an exempt position reporting to the Director of International Student Services.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline.
• Two years of experience advising students in a college student services office.
• Professional experience working with F-1 visa regulations in a college student services office.
• Ability to work effectively with culturally and ethnically diverse populations.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience with student records reporting into SEVIS (Student & Exchange Visitor Information System).
• Working knowledge of international student transfer process and requirements.
• Experience leading workshops and information sessions, particularly for international transfer students.
• Experience using a computer and Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, the Internet and email.

PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is typically performed in an office setting with occasional required functions off campus relating to new student orientation or program promotion. Excellent communication and problem solving skills are essential, as well as the ability to multi-task. The ability to use a personal computer is required.

Edmonds Community College, founded in 1967, is a public, two-year, coeducational state community college which each year welcomes some 11,000 academic and vocational students, including approximately 1,000 international students who come here from as many as 55 different countries.

Edmonds Community College is located in the center of the growing south Snohomish County communities of Edmonds, Lynnwood, Mountlake Terrace, Brier, Mill Creek and Woodway. Situated in Washington State’s Puget Sound region, the College is just north of Seattle and a short distance from the scenic beauty and recreation of the San Juan Islands, British Columbia, and the Cascade and Olympic mountain ranges. COMPENSATION:
The salary will be based on the current administrative/exempt salary schedule, with placement based on education and related experience. The starting salary range is $42,600 to $46,111 annually, progressing to $50,910. The college provides an excellent benefits package which includes medical, dental, life insurance and a retirement plan.
