Alley Greymond, B.A. 2004 and M.A. Whole Systems Design 2007
February 23, 2010
Alley Greymond, B.A. ’04, and M.A. Whole Systems Design ’07, is a Port of Seattle document control specialist, Engineering, who has just been named the organization’s 2009 Charles Blood Champion of Diversity Award recipient. She was selected from among six finalists.
A ceremony in her honor will be held 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, March 11, at Pier 69 West Atrium in Seattle. You can also email her your congratulations at greymond.a@portSeattle.org.
According to a recent port email, “during Greymond’s tenure at the Port of Seattle, she has consistently put ‘diversity into action’ in extraordinary ways and truly modeled the Port leader competency leverage diversity by leading with her ideas, by making good things happen with energy and perseverance and by holding firm to a vision of a fair, inclusive, and productive workplace.
“When Greymond worked in Accounting and Procurement Services (now Accounting and Financial Reporting – AFR), she initiated a brown bag series for department members to speak about culture issues that reflected their personal passion.
“Additionally, she was a founding member and lead for the AFR “Enrichment and Diversity” initiative that involved creating a diversity library, providing web content, and hosting meetings between AFR and other affinity group leaders. Most notably perhaps, as part of this effort, Greymond was the project manager of the Port’s first Portwide Diversity Day Celebration.
“In her current role in Engineering, Greymond co-designed and hosted a booth that focused on communication differences and worked with staff in HR&D to facilitate four workshops on navigating transitions. These workshops added great value and gave staff hope and a sense of possibility during a time when Port employees were facing many challenges.
“As a member of the 2008-2009 Development and Diversity (D&D) Council, Greymond was a consistent and conscientious contributor with imaginative ideas. She was a skillful facilitator at one of the four “2009 Diversity Day” celebration panels and also hosted two outreach sessions as part of the council’s partnership with Executive in gaining employee feedback on the recently adopted statement of values.
“Finally, within the broader Northwest community and region, Greymond has made significant contributions to the Red Sky Poetry Center. As organizer of the 2010 series her goal is to showcase women and people of color.”
Alumna Helps People Date
February 23, 2010
Hello Eric!
I’m sending you this email to let you know about a new development in my therapy practice. As you know, I’ve been developing my practice since I graduated with an M.A. in Psychology from Antioch in 2008, but the one issue that I did my best work with was helping people date. I’ve been working on incorporating this into my clinical practice, but what I’ve decided to do is spin out a seperate practice of date coaching.
In this practice, I start by working with clients to identify the beliefs that they hold that are keeping them from finding that special someone. These beliefs sometimes sound like “there’s no one for me to date in this town,” “there are no single people in my age range,” or “I can’t start dating until I lose 30 pounds.” There’s a neverending list of reasons why people belief they can’t be successful in dating, but each person’s beliefs are different.
After we’ve identified the beliefs that are blocking a client’s path, I use creative techniques to put into words and images to put together the picture of the ideal partner. At this point, it’s only a matter of weeks usually until this suitable mate walks into the client’s life. I’ve seen in work a number of times, it’s even worked for me.
I’m also been doing a lot of work with people who are going through breakups as well. I see these times as an opportunity to guide people to greater fulfillment and happiness–many times I can guide them to a better-suited partner for their next relationship.
I’m excited to share this new development with you Eric, and I hope that you can pass the message along to other Antioch alums. Check out my website for more information: http://www.KateLStewart.com. Look at my Dr. Love Dating Blog if you’d like to see more ideas and tips on dating.
Thanks for your help, Eric!

Compass Health Looking For Two Clinician II Positions
February 16, 2010
February 16, 2010
Dear MA Psychology Graduates,
I am a class of December 1989 MA Psychology graduate. I lost my job of the past 8 years working for TRAC Associates as a contractor for disabled veterans. I helped them get into college for a new career that was compatible with their disabilities and I also counseled veterans with PTSD. I was one day short of starting my 9th year with this company. Long story short, I was unemployed for 9 months and 13 days before I found a job. I was desperate and almost lost my home of the past 18 years.
Then I got a call from Compass Health to apply for a Clinician II position. Another agency that I had applied to had sent my resume to Compass. When I went to the first interview, they saw all of my experience over the past 30 years working in social services and commented on how much supervisory experience I had. They asked me if I would like to apply for a management position. Since I live alone and need more money, I readily agreed. I was hired on as the Intensive Outpatient Manager, Program #41700 on Broadway in Everett. I started on 12/14/09.
Since then I have lost 2 Clinician IIs, who had applied to other Compass programs before I came. I am in desperate need to fill these 2 positions ASAP. I thought of contacting Antioch immediately. Although the pay is not very much as advertised, there is overtime and mileage, which can add up to much more. This would be a GREAT job for recent graduates, as it would offer a wealth of experience working with the severely mentally ill, personality disorders, and chemical dependency. You would be a case manager and gain all of the knowledge needed to become a good case manager. You would have frequent on-going trainings and also have the chance to transfer to other program options in the future. Compass Health is huge and employs close to 600 employees. There are many great benefits including training monies each year. This job would also be good for experienced staff who are desperate for employment.
To apply, Google Compass Health and click on the ‘employment’ option. Scroll down to ‘Snohomish’ and then scroll down to ‘Clinician II, Everett Program #41700 which is my program. Send your resume to:
Compass Health-Human Resource Dept.
1100 S. 2nd Street
Mt. Vernon, WA 98273
In left hand corner of the envelope put, Attn: Cindy Carlson-Manager IOP
I am an excellent supervisor and will treat you well. I have many years of experience and have much knowledge to impart. I would love for Antioch graduates to be members of our great team. As soon as I get your information I will contact you to set up an interview. I am also an MHP and this June will get my LMHC certification, which comes in handy for those of you who may need hours supervised by a LMHC.
Thank you and hope to hear from you soon.
